Alex Pereira is currently walking around at big man weight.

After successfully defending the light heavyweight crown three times, Pereira relinquished the strap to Magomed Ankalaev in a unanimous decision loss at UFC 313 on March 8. While a rematch is expected to take place at some point this year, Ankalaev has grown impatient waiting for Pereira, claiming that the popular Brazilian was ”never coming back.”
Did ‘Poatan’ Just Tease a Move to Heavyweight?
The former Glory Kickboxing star recently dismissed that notion, however, and said that he plans to fight again in the fall.
"People are used to seeing me fighting all the time. Now I'm resting my body a little,” Pereira said on UFC Fight Pass Brazil. “The next fight should be in October. September, October or November.”
With a potential fight camp still months away, Pereira would still have plenty of time to get down to the light heavyweight limit. However, if he did transition to heavyweight, he would instantly become a potential target for both reigning champ Jon Jones and interim title holder Tom Aspinall. UFC CEO Dana White recently promised to have “answers” on a potential booking between Jones and Aspinall within the next two weeks.
