Heavyweight Prospect Tyrell Fortune Gets Spot on Bellator 225 Main Card vs. Rudy Schaffroth

Heavyweight prospect Tyrell Fortune will look to continue to build his resume in Bellator next month.

The undefeated former NCAA Division II national champion wrestler will square of against Rudy Schaffroth on the Bellator 225 main card in Brideport, Conn., on Aug. 24. Sherdog.com confirmed the booking with a promotion official on Tuesday.

Bellator 225 takes place at Webster Bank Arena and is headlined by a heavyweight rematch between Matt Mitrione and Sergei Kharitonov. The main card airs live on Paramount Network and Dazn at 9 p.m. ET. The prelims stream immediately prior on Bellator.com and Dazn beginning at 6:45 p.m. ET.

Fortune has kicked off his professional tenure with six consecutive victories under the Bellator banner. The 29-year-old Arizona Combat Sports product last appeared at Bellator 216, where he dispatched Ryan Pokryfky via technical knockout at the 2:21 mark of Round 1. Fortune has finished four of his six triumphs by TKO.

Based out of Team Quest in Portland, Ore., Schaffroth also owns a 6-0 pro mark. Schaffroth has finished all of his opponents inside of a round, including Jon Hill and Vernon Lewis in Bellator MMA.
