Heavyweight Prospects Fortune, Trice Help Finalize Bellator 171 Card
California-based MMA promotion Bellator announced Friday that three
more bouts have been tacked onto
Bellator 171, finalizing the event.
A pair of undefeated heavyweight prospects has been tacked onto the marquee as Jarod Trice and Tyrell Fortune will compete on the Bellator.com-streamed preliminary card. Trice is slated to face Kevin Woltkamp, while Fortune will stand opposite Will Johnson, who is making his pro debut. Rounding out the prelims will be a women’s flyweight clash between Bruna Ellen and Carmella James.
Bellator 171 will be anchored by longtime UFC veteran Melvin Guillard taking on Chidi Njokuani at catchweight. The surefire striker’s delight is bolstered by lightweight David Rickels making his return against Aaron Derrow in the co-feature. Unbeaten A.J. McKee will square off against Brandon Phillips while Jessica Middleton will oppose Alice Yauger to complete the main card.
The main card will go down at Kansas Star Arena in Mulvane, Kan., and will be televised live on Spike beginning at 9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. PT.
