Hector Lombard Returns Against Neil Magny in UFC Fight Night Brisbane Co-Main Event

Hector Lombard will return from suspension to face rising welterweight talent Neil Magny in the co-main event at UFC Fight Night in Brisbane on March 20.

Promotion officials announced the 170-pound contest on Monday. UFC Fight Night takes place at Brisbane Entertainment Center in Australia and is headlined by a heavyweight showdown between Mark Hunt and Frank Mir. The card will air on Fox Sports 1 in the United States.

In addition to Lombard-Magny, three other bouts were confirmed for the event: James Te Huna vs. Steve Bosse at light heavyweight; Brendan O’Reilly vs. Alan Jouban at welterweight and Daniel Kelly vs. Antonio Carlos Jr. at middleweight.

Lombard hasn’t competed since UFC 182, where he initially took a unanimous decision over Josh Burkman before the verdict was ruled a no contest after the Cuban fighter tested positive for the anabolic steroid desoxymethyltestosterone (DMT). Lombard was suspended for one year, a sentence which ended on Jan. 3, and fined approximately $70,000. “Lightning” is 3-2 in the promotion overall, with official wins over Rousimar Palhares, Nate Marquardt and Jake Shields.

The 28-year-old Magny has been one of the UFC’s most active and successful competitors over the course of the past two years. Fighting five times apiece in both 2014 and 2015, the Grudge Training Center product has compiled a 9-1 record during that time, with his only loss coming against Demian Maia at UFC 190. Most recently, he garnered a split-decision win against Kelvin Gastelum on Nov. 21.
