Hendo, Clinch Gear to Help Families in Need on Thanksgiving

Former Strikeforce light heavyweight champion Dan Henderson and MMA apparel brand Clinch Gear recently announced a plan to help feed needy families on Thanksgiving.

Henderson will face Mauricio “Shogun” Rua in the main event of UFC 139 this Saturday, and the former two-division Pride Fighting Championships titlist plans to put his walkout T-shirt to good use. For every limited edition shirt sold before Nov. 24, the Henderson-owned clothing line will subsidize the cost of a Thanksgiving dinner for a family of four at either the Denver Rescue Mission or the San Diego Rescue Mission.

“With the Thanksgiving holiday just days after my fight, we want to remind fans that there are a lot of people out there fighting for more important things than a UFC title,” said Henderson. “There are so many American families [that] are struggling to pay for basic necessities, such as food, clothing and shelter, and this is an opportunity for Clinch Gear and the MMA community to make a difference this Thanksgiving.”

Available in black or white, Henderson’s walkout T-shirt features the phrase “Heart and Mind Overcome All,” with “Hendo” highlighted in red. A separate shirt which will be worn by Henderson’s cornermen is also available for purchase and will also benefit needy families on Thanksgiving. The shirts may be purchased at ClinchGear.com and select distributors for $29.95 each.

Henderson’s bout with Rua goes down Nov. 19 at HP Pavilion in San Jose, Calif. Former Pride star Hendo has been on a tear following his 2010 loss to Jake Shields, knocking out Renato Sobral, Rafael Cavalcante and Fedor Emelianenko in consecutive starts.
