Four fighters received medical suspensions from the Nebraska State Athletic Commission following last week’s UFC on Fuel TV 1, Sherdog.com confirmed Tuesday.
Meanwhile, Ronny Markes was handed an indefinite suspension after suffering a hand injury in his successful middleweight debut against Aaron Simpson. The Brazilian must receive doctor’s clearance on his right hand before the suspension can be lifted.
Headlined by a hard-fought welterweight contest between Jake Ellenberger and Diego Sanchez, UFC on Fuel 1 was attended by 7,120 spectators, according to Dunn. Ellenberger walked away from the Omaha Civic Auditorium in Omaha, Neb., with a unanimous decision victory, holding off a late charge from Sanchez to earn his sixth straight Octagon victory.
Additionally, Dunn revealed that six competitors were randomly drug tested at the event, but the results have not yet come back. Fighter salaries were not disclosed.
