Ostovich’s management team, Suckerpunch Entertainment, confirmed the fighter’s exit in a post on Facebook. Ostovich would have faced VanZant as part of the UFC’s first card on ESPN+, which was scheduled to take place at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, N.Y., on Jan. 19.

“A very unfortunate incident occurred Sunday night with Rachael Ostovich that ended with her suffering a fractured orbital and other injuries,” the statement read. “As a result of these injuries she will not be able to compete in her upcoming bout with Paige VanZant on January 19th. Rachael is now home from the hospital with her family and will be going back for further check ups on her orbital. The family would like to ask for some privacy as they sort through this matter. We would like to thank the UFC for all their support on this matter as well as the fans and media for your concern.”

While no arrests have been made, the Honolulu Police Department has opened a second-degree assault investigation involving a 27-year-old female victim and a 27-year-old male suspect, who were believed to be in an argument before the alleged incident occurred. Ostovich was treated and released for her injuries at a hospital on Sunday.

According to a report from TMZ Sports, Ostovich has filed a restraining order against husband Arnold Berdon on Nov. 19. The order was granted and will stay in effect until May 18. Berdon is reportedly seeking a lawyer, and an unidentified family member of Berdon’s told TMZ that he was attacked first and defended himself. Berdon is a professional mixed martial artist with a 7-2 career record.

Ostovich, 27, is a native of Honolulu with a 4-4 professional record in MMA. She went 2-2 during a four-bout stint in Invicta Fighting Championships before appearing on Season 26 of “The Ultimate Fighter.” She made her debut in the Octagon with a first-round submission of Karine Gevorgyan at the “TUF 26” finale before tapping out to a rear-naked choke against Montana De La Rosa at the “TUF 27” finale in her most recent outing.
