Marina Shafir vs. Amber Leibrock

Round 1

Shafir sticks her jab out, but Leibrock is quick to return with her own, tagging the Moldovan and doubling up. Both women starting to pump jabs and crosses at each other with abandon and Leibrock is starting to land.

Leibrock smashed Shafir with quickness.
She doubles her jab again to back up Shafir, then throws an overhand right. The right hand just misses, so Leibrock gives chase and throws another one, clocking Shafir in the jaw and dropping her along the fence. Leibrock charges to top position with right hands and Shafir tries to grab a leglock. Unfortunately, she leaves her face unprotected and Leibrock unloads a dozen clean right hands on the chin. Referee Steve Mazzagatti misses Leibrock grabbing the fence for balance on the last handful, but Shafir is toast.

Amy Cadwell Montenegro vs. Jamie Moyle

Round 1

They trade right crosses immediately and Montenegro lands a pair of clean ones, forcing Moyle to clinch and run her into the fence. Moyle digs hard for a second underhook, but Montenegro pummels hard and lands hard knees to the body of her opponent. Both women jockey for position from over-unders, turning one another around to the fence. They spin off the cage and Moyle cracks Montenegro with two hard rights, then clinches again. After more hard pummelling, Moyle gets behind Montenegro and trips her to the canvas. Montenegro bails out on her knees but gives up her back. Moyle is hot in pursuit of a rear-naked choke, but as Montenegro escapes and starts to shake her, Moyle switches to an armbar. Montenegro escapes and gets on top but Moyle's guard is active and inching higher. Quick armbar attempt from Moyle, but Montenegro elevates her and slams out. Very impressive grappling from Moyle, but Montenegro gets to half guard and digs into her ribs with elbows. Montenegro tries to stand up and back away, but Moyle trips her up and jumps into half guard on top with just over a minute left in the round. Moyle postures up in half guard and lands a series of hard rights. Montenegro rolls forward into a takedown and gets to her feet just before the horn.

Round 2

Moyle pressures forward, flicking a front kick onto Montenegro's chin, then tagging her with a right hand moments later. Moyle starting to operate more smoothly on the feet, landing right hands punctuated with leg kicks. A heavy right hook rocks Montenegro's head to the side and draws a roar from the crowd. Jab-cross lands for “The Resurrection,” but Moyle rips her right back moments later with another right hook. Moyle's right hand over the top of Montenegro's low left hand is landing at will and the Las Vegas-based fighter is putting more leg kicks on Montenegro, too. Another stiff one lands for Moyle, who then lands a right kick to the body. Montenegro steps forward and tries to clinch, but Moyle pushes her away and lands another stinging body kick. Montenegro clinches again and Moyle starts drawing a few deeper breaths as she grapples on and off the fence. Montenegro gets double underhooks but Moyle fights the position, shoots a double, then trips the right leg to finish. Moyle lands punches on top and tries to pass up the center, allowing Montenegro to regain her feet and clinch, landing a single hard elbow on Moyle before the horn sounds.

Round 3

Moyle remains dedicated to her body kicks and right hooks in the final round, forcing another Montenegro clinch. Montenegro just can't buy a takedown in the clinch, where Moyle calmly pummels and eventually escapes without fail. Montenegro keeps pressuring inside, but gets nowhere, prompting referee Kim Winslow to break them up with three minutes to fight. Both women land right kicks to the body, but Moyle puts a flush right behind her's. Montenegro clinches and lands a hard knee to the ribs, but can't expand her dirty boxing game beyond that.

Moyle won with technical striking.
Moyle controls her neck, then ties her up inside. Montenegro sneaks a clean elbow in and keeps the Syndicate MMA product trapped on the fence when she tries to circle off. Moyle keeps fighting and frees herself from the fence, smacking Montenegro with a left hook-right cross combo. Montenegro clinches Moyle to the fence again, but Kim Winslow quickly breaks them with 30 second to go. Montenegro presses forward and lands a right cross, then charges at the tired Moyle with eight punches, tagging her with the final right hand.

Amber Brown vs. Catherine Costigan

Round 1

Both women clinch immediately and “The Bully” Amber Brown lives up to her name, pushing Costigan to the fence, landing a right hand then hitting a trip takedown straight into full mount in just 30 seconds. Brown bases down and tries to smother Costigan while landing short right hands. Brown postures up and lands left elbows, then a series of hard rights. Costigan desperately tries to shrimp away, but Brown cracks her again with a lunging right and retains full mount.

a thoroughly dominant manner.
“The Alpha Female” is trapped on bottom and can't fight her way to roll over, as Brown grapevines her legs and keeps grinding away. Brown threatens an arm-triangle choke attempt while landing right hands with her free arm. Costigan breaks free, but eats another major salvo of elbows from Brown. The Irish fighter finally rolls over to her belly, but she's flattened out and Brown is smashing her with punches. Brown digs her choking arm in and seals up the rear-naked choke to force a tap from the overwhelmed Costigan. Dominant showing by Amber Brown.

Pannie Kianzad vs. Jessica-Rose Clark

Round 1

Kianzad glances Clark with a left hook on the first exchange as the Australian kicks, moving forward into a clinch. Clark drops for a single along the cage, but Kianzad stands her up and digs for underhooks. They keep a spirited positional battle going, but it's not good enough for referee Steve Mazzagatti who breaks the bantamweights up. Clark tags Kianzad with a right uppercut, but the Swedish fighter responds with a low kick and one-two, rocking Clark back to the cage. Kianzad latches onto a rear waistlock and looks to slam Clark as the Australian teases a kimura before spinning around into the clinch. Clark pins Kianzad to the cage and tries to spin her hips to open up a takedown, but again, Mazzagatti breaks the pair up. Kianzad lands a left hook, but then walks into a right from Clark. Clark lands a nice low kick on Kianzad as she winds up on a big hook, then puts one inside the lead leg. They come together in the clinch again and Kianzad nails a nice inner thigh throw to claim top position until the horn sounds.

Round 2

Clark goes back to her low kicks to begin round two, but Kianzad begins tagging her with left hands, then steps in with a knee to the body. Clark tries to fire back and eats another left hand, so she desperately grabs at Kianzad and goes for a headlock throw. Kianzad lands on top and pounds her way to side control. “Jessy Jess” gets back to half guard, but “Banzai” slams her with left elbows. Kianzad pins Clark's right arm with her knee and almost passes right into the top crucifix before settling for side control. Clark tries to cling to an awkward, belly-down armlock, which allows Kianzad to step over her head with an inverted triangle choke. Kianzad chances the submission for a second, but the minute that Clark pops out, Kianzad rolls into a takedown and dumps her right back on the mat. Clark shows a triangle setup, then switches to an armbar on Kianzad. Kianzad tries to step over the top and loses her balance, but still manages to yank her arm out while seated in an awkward reverse mount. Kianzad reaches behind herself, hammerfisting Clark in the face before voluntarily moving back to side control. Clark scrambles to her knees, but Kianzad freezes her there.

Round 3

Kianzad cracks Clark with a right cross down the center when the Aussie looks for another low kick. Kianzad opens up with her hands, but Clark retaliates with a clean stepping knee to the chin. The Iranian-born Swede keeps loading up her lead left, hoping to move Clark into it with a flurry. Body shot lands for Kianzad, then a left hook upstairs behind it.

Clark is trying to slug with Kianzad now, but “Banzai” is one step ahead the whole way, landing with more left hands. Kianzad then lands a beautiful switch-step Superman punch, a la Georges St. Pierre. Left cross-right uppercut from Kianzad glances its target. Clark is just following Kianzad around the cage now, walking into more clean and clever left hands from Kianzad. A pair of hard outside low kicks from Clark register, but Kianzad tags her with yet another left. Overhand right-left hook for Kianzad lands. Clark's corner screams at her to go for the kill, knowing she's behind. “Jessy Jess” charges Kianzad and lands a hard knee to the body, but nothing else.

Invicta FC Atomweight Title Fight:
Herica Tiburcio vs. Ayaka Hamasaki

Round 1

Hamasaki strikes first, diving in with a right-hand lead that rocks Tiburcio's head back. Tiburcio responds with two clean, quick lefts and Hamasaki sticks her in response. The champion Tiburcio is stalking Hamasaki, but the Japanese fighter uses good head and foot movement to stay safe. Hamasaki runs in with a four-punch dash, but Tiburcio blocks them all. Hamasaki sneaks in a nice clean left, then another. Tiburcio gets active with her low kicks, then lances Hamasaki with a big right cross. Tiburcio is cutting angles but can't quite corner Hamasaki. More leg kicks from the champ, until she roars forward with a left kick to the liver that crumples Hamasaki. Tiburcio feels her fade and locks up a guillotine, rolling to full mount just as she did to take the Invicta title from Michelle Waterson. Hamasaki expertly breaks Tiburcio's grip, then fights back to half guard to close out the round.

Round 2

Hamasaki gets a quick takedown and sets up from half guard. Heavy shoulder pressure from the Abe Ani Combat Club grappler, trying to grind her way to a pass against the Brazilian champ. Tiburcio tries to push Hamasaki's near hip away and shrimp, but the challenger is firmly in half guard. Tiburcio looks for deep half guard to sweep, but Hamasaki sits on her head and punches her to shut it down. Tiburcio manages to regain full guard at the halfway mark of the round. Tiburcio gets overhooks on Hamasaki and hangs out for 30 seconds until referee Kim Winslow puts the atomweights back on the feet. Clean right hook lands for Hamasaki, and Tiburcio responds with more low kicks. Hamasaki steps forward, so Tiburcio shoots for the waist and tries to trip her, but Hamasaki shifts her hips, lands on top and gets right back to working from half guard. Hamasaki underhooks Tiburcio's leg to try to pass to side control, but referee Kim Winslow doesn't give a damn about her guard pass, and stands them up again. On the feet, Tiburcio wings hooks at Hamasaki, catches her, then dives into a guillotine right at the horn.

Round 3

Hamasaki winds up on a pair of hooks, then dives into the clinch, taking Tiburcio back to the mat. The champion locks up full guard on bottom and strikes with elbows from her back. Tiburcio opens her guard and looks for a triangle, but Hamasaki tripods up and breaks the champ's posture. Tiburcio sneaks her left shin across Hamasaki's throat and uses it to control her, before pushing her away and jumping to her feet with just over two minutes left in the round. Inside low kick lands for Tiburcio, but Hamasaki clinches and lands a clever outer reap to put the Brazilian back on the mat. Hamasaki tries to sneak through Tiburcio's open guard, but the champ sits up against the fence and sinks her hooks in on the Japanese fighter as she tries to pass -- an incredible take of the back. Tiburcio locks the position down and fights to choke Hamasaki, but Hamasaki controls her hands. Tiburcio punches from behind the challenger, angling her right arm under the jaw. Tiburcio keeps smacking Hamasaki with right hands to butter her up for the choke, but Hamasaki is too crafty, lasting the rest of the round.

Round 4

Hamasaki advances on Tiburcio quickly, doubling her right hooks, then shooting for a takedown. Tiburcio blocks the double, then the trip attempt, but Hamasaki shrewdly gets over-unders and wrenches her to the mat. Hamasaki gets to half guard and drives her elbow into Tiburcio's left thigh and ribs. Hamasaki postures up to pass, but Tiburcio locks her leg down. Hamasaki shows great shoulder pressure to force the pass, but Tiburcio shrimps away. Hamasaki settles for half guard again, methodically looking for the guard pass as she digs away with elbows to the thigh and head. Tiburcio goes to deep half guard again to sweep, then bails out and closes her full guard. She only needs to stall Hamasaki for 10 seconds before Kim Winslow stands the fighters up again, this time drawing jeers from the Las Vegas crowd. Tiburcio throws a hard right body kick, but Hamasaki catches it and trips her right back to the mat with 90 seconds left in the round. Hamasaki settles in full guard, trapping Tiburcio's hands. The champ turns onto her left hip and tries to look for an armbar, but Hamasaki blocks it. Right hand from Hamasaki lands from full guard. Tiburcio works rubber guard briefly before the round expires.

Round 5

Hamasaki casually tosses Tiburcio on the mat and moves to half guard again in the opening 30 seconds. The AACC fighter fights hard for the pass while threatening a keylock, but it allows Tiburcio to scramble. Tiburcio forces the champion to turtle, grapevining her arm and landing idle hammerfists to stay busy.

Hamasaki earned Invicta FC gold.
She tries to get a back crucifix, but Tiburcio scrambles back to her feet with just over two minutes to go. Hamasaki lands a left cross, then a jab-left cross. Tiburcio kicks the inside of Hamasaki's lead leg, but walks into a right hook counter from the elusive Hamasaki. Tiburcio attacks with a right kick and Hamasaki catches her leg and drives her to the mat. With one minute to go, the challenger is working from half guard along the cage. Tiburcio replaces full guard but time is ticking down. Hamasaki sits in Tiburcio's guard and rides the fight out as Tiburcio throws up a desperate triangle attempt.

Invicta FC Bantamweight Title Fight:
Tonya Evinger vs. Irene Aldana

Round 1

Aldana has reportedly been suffering from the flu during the week, but the battle for the vacant Invicta bantamweight strap will nonetheless go forward as planned. The two fighters touch gloves and Evinger takes the center of the cage. Evinger throws a hard right hand and Aldana appears to slip. A wild scramble ensues with Evinger hanging on to a leglock. Evinger lands several hard backward elbows to Aldana’s face. Evinger is in top position near the cage and Aldana fishes for an armbar but the American pulls free. Evinger steps over into mount and lands some right hands. Evinger continues to remain busy with a series of right hands, and Aldana is struggling to defend because her arm is trapped. Evinger transitions to an armbar and sits back. Aldana is frantically trying to escape, and although her arm appears to be contorted, the Mexican fighter somehow pulls free. Evinger goes right back to work from above and smashes Aldana with an elbow. Evinger works to isolate her foe’s arm for a kimura, then postures up and unloads with more hard right hands. With 10 seconds left Evinger tries to go belly down for an armbar. Aldana escapes and finishes the round on top.

Round 2

Evinger presses forward with an outside leg kick. Aldana is on the retreat eary in the frame, with Evinger stalking. Evinger counters with a big right hand, then eats a punch while closing the distance. The Missourian drives Aldana against the fence before changing levels for a takedown. Back on top, Evinger isolates Aldana’s right arm and keeps the pressure on from above. Aldana is able to regain full guard, however. Evinger stacks Aldana near the fence and ties her opponent’s arm under her body. Evinger stays busy with short punches to the body and face, and Aldana really has no avenue for escape. Evinger continues to grind away from above as she attempts to pass to half guard while landing right hands to the body. Less than a minute remains and Aldana has been grounded for most of the frame. Aldana uses her legs to push off the cage and turns her back to the fence, but she can’t shake Evinger, who finishes the frame with more ground-and-pound.

Round 3

Aldana bobs and weaves frantically, but Evinger doesn't care, winding up and cracking her with an overhand right. Evinger stalks forward, tall with her front hand down like Tommy Hearns, touching Aldana's lead leg with low kicks. Evinger misses a right, but tags Aldana with a knee behind it, segueing into the clinch and pressuring her foe for a takedown. Evinger picks Aldana's ankle, but the Mexican fighter holds onto an overhook and keeps her feet. Evinger crawls for a low single, but Aldana sits out and hammerfists her head. The pair scramble back to their feet, Aldana landing a left hook on the break. Evinger casts a wide right hook, then jumps into the clinch and puts Aldana on the mat with a headlock throw for a brief moment. Aldana pops right back to her feet, but Evinger is controlling her along the cage with a whizzer. Evinger gets over-unders and swings Aldana to the mat, taking full mount with a minute left in the round. Evinger pounds away, creeping her mount higher in pursuit of a submission. Aldana pushes her feet off of the cage wall, but Evinger holds the position, sitting on her head and smashing away before going for an armbar at the horn.

Round 4

Aldana shows more head movement to begin the fourth round, but she's not actually attacking with strikes. Evinger slowly, comfortably strides forward, leaning back from Aldana's telegraphed strikes and picking her shots with low kicks and whipping rights. Evinger rushes into the clinch and just narrowly misses a wild uppercut on her foe. Aldana throws a teep, then stalks forward shadowboxing two feet in front of Evinger to no avail. Evinger shoots, gets stuffed, but then turns the corner and jumps on Aldana's back with three minutes left in the round.

Evinger works for the choke, but Aldana turns over, giving up full mount once more. Evinger grinds with short elbows, then sits up to land right hands and hammerfists. The Mexican fighters is getting overwhelmed as Evinger creeps her mount higher, landing left hands and hammerfists. Aldana tries to buck, but is just eating punishment now as referee Mark Smith warns her to defend herself. With 30 seconds to go, Evinger wings away with both hands, sensing she's close to a stoppage. She's right: with a few seconds of punching on the trapped and exhausted Aldana, Mark Smith dives in for the save, giving Tonya Evinger the Invicta FC bantamweight title.

Invicta FC Featherweight Title Fight:
Cristiane “Cyborg” Justino vs. Faith Van Duin

Round 1

'Cyborg' needed just 45 seconds.
Van Duin lets go of one punch and “Cyborg” lets loose with two potent right hooks, then runs van Duin into the cage. They separate and “Cyborg,” already sensing she's in complete control of this bout, marches her across the cage. The Brazilian launches a head kick, then a salvo of crosses and uppercuts as van Duin fades into the fence. Justino lands a hard knee to the body and another series of punches behind it, dropping her target to the mat and forcing her to go fetal. Justino rips van Duin with right hands as referee Steve Mazzagatti is forced into action.
