Christine Ferea vs. Rachael Ostovich

Round 1

Ferea probes with an inside leg kick and Ostovich answers with a kick to the body. Both fighters are trading kicks early. Ferea throws a left hand followed by a low kick. The MMA debutante connects with a jab on the face of Ostovich. Ostovich shoots for a single leg, but Ferea maintains her footing. Ostovich attempts a judo throw and then tries to invite Ferea into guard. Ferea isn’t having it and a standup is ordered. Ferea lands a hard outside leg kick. Ostovich uses an overhand right to set up a takedown try. Ferea uses a momentary fence grab. After a brief clinch they seprate and return to the center of the cage. Ostovich lands a clean jab. 10-9 Ferea

Round 2

Ostovich tries a spinning back kick that lands to the body. Ferea shrugs it off and advances forward. Ostovich dives for a takedown and takes Ferea’s back near the fence. The Hawaiian has both hooks in with a little more than 3:00 remaining in the frame. Ostovich attempts to create an opening for a rear-naked choke with a series of left hands to the side of the head. Ostovich continues to work to slide her arm under her opponent’s neck. Ferea is hanging tough, but Ostovich continues to stay busy with ground-and-pound. Ostovich readjusts her position and now has a body triangle. Ferea attempts to turn out of the predicament and gets trapped in an armbar in the waning moments of the round. She defends the hold but eats several hammerfists to the head as time expires. 10-9 Ostovich.

Round 3

Ostovich moves forward and misses a two-punch combo but lands a kick to the body. The combatants exchange briefly before Ostovich lands a takedown, but Ferea is able to get up quickly. Ferea is pressuring and hurts Ostovich with a hard left high kick that lands cleanly with the shin. Ostovich is wobbled and dives for a desperation takedown as Ferea presses forward with punches. Ferea stuffs it with ease and attacks relentlessly with ground-and-pound on the canvas. Ostovich clearly doesn’t have her bearings, and finally referee Mike England steps in to stop the contest.

Amy Cadwell Montenegro vs. Celine Haga

Round 1

Haga opens up with a push kick to the body and then just misses on a side kick to the head. Haga is feeding Montenegro a steady diet of kicks in the bout’s opening moments. Montenegro counters a leg kick with a hard right hand. Montenegro lands another right hand following a Haga kick. Haga snaps a hook kick to the face, but it doesn’t appear to faze Montenegro. Montenegro forces the clinch and pushes her foe against the cage, where she lands a couple knees to the body. Haga turns and dives for a takedown, but Montenegro defends. Haga moves to the back and eats an elbow to the face before she is able to drag her opponent down. Haga is on Montenegro’s back with a body triangle secured. Montenegro is fighting to control Haga’s hands to prevent the choke. Haga loses the body triangle and Montenegro attempts to turn into guard, Haga gets an arm-triangle choke from her back. Haga hangs on to the hold for a while but Montenegro escapes. Montenegro rolls for an armbar and extends the limb just as time expires. Haga taps but it occurs after the bell. 10-9 Haga.

Round 2

Montenegro catches a high kick and dumps Haga to the mat near the fence. Montenegro is attempting to work her way around to her opponent’s back. Haga is able to turn out of the position and briefly stand. Montenegro grinds Haga against the cage, landing punches and knees. Haga turns and tries to trip Montenegro down, but it’s Montenegro who winds up on top in half guard, landing several sharp elbows. Haga is utilizing the butterfly guard from her back to creat space, but Montenegro remains heavy, landing short elbows from above. Montenegro is setting up a guillotine. She gives up that idea and resumes landing elbows and punches from agove. Montenegro stands and alternates kicks to the legs of the grounded Haga. A standup is ordered and Haga lands another hook kick to the face before Montenegro forces the clinch and drives her foe into the fence. 10-9 Montenegro.

Round 3

Montenegro uses punches to force the clinch, but Haga hip tosses her to the floor and transitions to an armbar. Haga then switches to a toe hold, which allows Montenegro to assume top position. Montenegro batters Haga with quick, short elbows. Montenegro works to pass to side control while continuing to land periodic elbows from above. Haga rolls for a heel hook. Montenegro clears her opponent’s leg and moves to Haga’s back. Montenegro gets her arm under the chin but Montenegro doesn’t have both hooks in. Montenegro gives up the choke and lands more punches from back mount before returning to the rear-naked choke. With both hooks in, Montenegro continues to threaten with the RNC while landing punches to the side of the head. The fighters stand and Haga gets to Montenegro’s back. Haga has the her arm under Montenegro’s chin but isn’t squarely on her opponent’s back and doesn’t have her hooks in. The choke is still tight though, and referee Greg Franklin breaks the hold as the bell sounds. Montenegro is unconscious, but this one is still going to the scorecards. 10-9 Montenegro (29-28 Montenegro).

Jenny Liou vs. Andrea Lee

Round 1

Lee pressures immediately with a punching combination. Lee backs Liou into the fence, working the head and body effectively. Liou looks frazzled and misses a spinning back fist. Lee tags Liou with a couple hard overhand rights and Liou fails on another desperation spinning back fist. Lee continues to tag Liou with right hands, then lands a knee to the liver that has her adversary in retreat mode. Lee isn’t slowing down, and she drops her opponent with an uppercut to the body. With Liou in the fetal position on the canvas, Lee tees off with standing-to-ground punches before referee Mike England mercifully steps in to halt the flyweight contest.

Sijara Eubanks vs. Aspen Ladd

Round 1

Ladd takes the center of the cage and lands a left hook. Eubanks defends a takedown try and answers with a combination. Ladd goes upstairs with a kick but it’s blocked. Ladd with a one-two combination. Ladd stays active with her jab, mixing the occasional left hand. Ladd continues to find openings for straight punches. Eubanks misses a standing elbow but connects a follow-up right hand. Eubanks lands a pair of kicks to the body and follows up with a front kick while Ladd is content to continue with straight punching combinations. Eubanks changes levels for a takedown and Ladd sprawls. Ladd lands several hard elbows to the ribs as Eubanks hangs on for the takedown. Eubanks won’t give up on the takedown, and Ladd defends for a while before Eubanks picks her foe up and dumps her on the canvas. Eubanks is now on top with less than a minute remaining. Eubanks lands some punches to the side of the head in a scramble before Ladd works her way back to her feet. 10-9 Ladd.

Round 2

Ladd resumes with her crisp one-two combinations to begin the stanza. Ladd isn’t landing with tremendous power, but her volume is superior to her opponent’s. Eubanks connects with a spinning back-fist, but Ladd remains in the center of the cage. Ladd keeps Eubanks at bay with her jab and misses a standing elbow. Ladd lands a left hook to the body and a right hand upstairs. Eubanks lands a pair of leg kicks to try and slow Ladd’s forward movement. Ladd is undeterred, and she keeps the pressure on with punching combinations. Ladd follows a right hand with a head kick. Eubanks enters for a takedown and drives Ladd against the fence. Her hands are connected behind Ladd, who lands some elbows to the body. Eubanks switches to a single leg but Ladd shakes her off and moves back to the center of the cage. They exchange in the waning seconds, with Eubanks firing off a head kick as time expires. 10-9 Ladd.

Round 3

Ladd stalks Eubanks as she circles on the outside of the cage. Ladd forces the clinch and lands a knee to the midsection. Ladd has double underhooks and lands another knee before sweeping Eubanks to the floor. Ladd pushes Eubanks away from the fence and stays heavy from half guard. Ladd applies pressure to the head and sneaks in a short elbow. Ladd postures up and lands a left and right hand from above. Eubanks is able to reverse into top position. Ladd tries to frame a triangle but Eubanks quickly frees herself and transitions to her opponent’s back. Ladd recaptures her guard in a scramble. Eubanks is in top position but isn’t doing any damage. Ladd does her best to neutralize Eubanks’ offense by threatening with a kimura and a choke from her back before the round ends. 10-9 Ladd (30-27 Ladd).

Leah Letson vs. Elizabeth Phillips

Round 1

Letson kicks the lead leg of Phillips, then counters a kick to the body with a right hand. Phillips lands a clean right hand over the top. The blow opens a couple cuts near Letson’s left eye, but she is undeterred. Letson throws a left high kick and her shin connects directly with Phillips’ chin. The UFC veteran goes stiff as she hits the ground, and Letson pounces to land several follow-up hammerfists before the featherweight bout is waved off by Mike England.

Pannie Kianzad vs. Raquel Pa'aluhi

Round 1

Kianzad jabs then backs away. Pa’aluhi lands a kick to the body. Kianzad throws a leg kick and Pa’aluhi grabs a single leg and trips her foe to the floor. “Lionheart” clears the guard and moves to side control, where she lands some knees to the body. Kianzad recovers half guard as Pa’aluhi lands punches from top position. Pa’aluhi looks to transition to Kianzad’s back, and she is able to secure both hooks. She lands right hands to the side of the head as she tries to slide her left hand under KIanzad’s jaw. Pa’aluhi has a body triangle now as she continues to land punches to the head. Pa’aluhi readjusts the choke and slides her left arm under Kianzad’s chin. She squeezes the choke and Kianzad is forced to tap out.

Invicta FC Interim Featherweight Title Fight:
Megan Anderson vs. Charmaine Tweet

Round 1

Anderson tags Tweet with a couple jabs in an initial exchange. Anderson lands a kick up top then another right hand before forcing the clinch. The Aussie presses her foe into the fence and lands a knee to the gut. Tweet shoves her away and moves forward with a jab. Anderson misses a right hand and Tweet counters with a right of her own that appears to momentarily rock Anderson. Anderson ties her opponent up and they trade knees against the fence. Tweet forces a break and Anderson tees off with punches against the fence. Tweet eats several clean punches before tying up with Anderson. Tweet lands a jab down the middle followed by a kick to the lead leg. A spinning back fist from Tweet finds a home and as Anderson closes distance Tweet briefly threatens with a guillotine. Anderson’s nose is bloodied as she lands a one-two. Tweet answers with a left hook. Both fighters are trading heavy leather in the pocket. Anderson drops for a takedown and gets it just as the round ends. 10-9 Anderson.

Round 2

Tweet lands a kick to the body and briefly ties up her opponent. Tweet slips after a knee to the body and Anderson unloads with a series of punches as Tweet finds her footing. Anderson lands a hard right hand and follows up with a kick upstairs. Tweet doesn’t like it and forces a clinch. Anderson has an underhook and pushes her foe against the cage. Anderson lands a combination on the break. Anderson continues to flurry and Tweet covers up. Anderson smells blood and tees off with left and right hands against the fence. Tweet is busted up now and is throwing spinning attacks out of desperation. Anderson won’t let up. She marches forward and connects with a left high kick, forcing Tweet to turn her back to the onrushing Aussie in a sign of surrender. Referee Greg Franklin quickly intervenes to halt the bout. Anderson is the Invicta FC interim featherweight champion.
