The battle for strawweight gold inside Invicta Fighting Championships is on for Invicta FC Phoenix Rising 1, where eight women face off in the organization's first one-night tournament to decide the next champion, but not before there was high drama on the scales.

After multiple issues, the new quarterfinals for Invicta FC Phoenix Rising 1 have been established. First, former tournament reserve member Amber Brown (115.8) will step in to face Sharon Jacobson (115.7). Then, Manjit Kolekar will also jump from alternate to active participant when she meets Brianna Van Buren (115.8). The bout between former Ultimate Fighting Championship competitors remained intact, as Danielle Taylor (115.7) clashes with Juliana Lima (115.5). Rounding out the quarterfinals will be another UFC veteran in Kailin Curran (116) taking on the unbeaten Sunna Rannveig Davidsdottir (115.9).

Invicta FC Phoenix Rising 1 will air live on UFC Fight Pass at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT, on Friday, May 3. As one alternate bout was dismantled to place Brown and Kolekar in the quarterfinals, the lone reserve match will take place between Alyssa Krahn (115.8) and Itzel Esquivel (115.7). Serving as the co-main event between the semifinals and finals will be a non-tournament battle pitting Kay Hansen (115.4) against Magdalena Sormova (115.4).

Mizuki Inoue continued her strawweight troubles, where her quarterfinal scrap with Jacobson was scuttled as Inoue could not even make it to the scales, withdrawing due to complications from her weight cut. Janaisa Morandin was scheduled to face Van Buren in the quarterfinals, but missed weight and was also pulled from the tournament.

Each of the quarterfinals and semifinals will be one-round bouts. If a quarterfinalist finishes their opponent, not only will they win a finish bonus, but the quickest finisher also gains the ability to choose their opponent in the next round. If none of the quarterfinals end via stoppage, the semifinals will be randomly selected.
