The quarterfinal and semifinal bouts will all be contested over one five-minute round, while the tournament final will take place over three five-minute frames. Quarterfinal matchups will be determined prior to the event. In an interesting twist, the opening round finisher with the fastest finish will be able to pick her opponent from the other quarterfinal winners.
A tournament reserve bout is also expected to be announced in the coming weeks.
“Our Phoenix Rising Series is the culmination of a vision for women's MMA that began when Invicta was founded,” said Invicta FC President Shannon Knapp. “Continuing to innovate and provide ground-breaking opportunities for women is a source of pride.”
Invicta will debut a new commentary team for the event, with Laura Sanko serving in the play-by-play role and former Bellator and UFC on-air talent Jimmy Smith providing color commentary.
