Islam Makhachev Introduces Prospect Following 'Dagestan 2-3 Years and Forget' Plan
A fighter who claims to be preparing for his
Ultimate Fighting Championship debut has accepted Islam
Makhachev’s famous advice.
One of Makhachev’s most renowned one-liners is his advice to Daniel Cormier to send his children to "Dagestan two to three years and forget” to teach them wrestling. While there have seemingly been some casual takers of Makhachev’s advice, the champ finally has a pro fighter under his wing.
Brahyan
Zurcher (9-0) from Mexico is in Dagestan to train with
Makhachev. Zurcher claims he will make his debut at Noche
UFC on Sept. 13, which is the UFC annual card in celebration of
Mexico’s contribution to combat sports. The undefeated
featherweight prospect initially said he is in Dagestan for five
weeks, but jovially agreed to say two to three years when Makhachev
persisted. However, Makhachev, being true to his nature, didn’t
spare Zurcher some roasting for eating throughout his first couple
of days in Dagestan. Regardless, Zurcher promises to make weight
for his alleged UFC debut.
Their conversation, via Red Corner MMA, is as follows:
Makhachev: Hey guys, this the first guy like real first guy who come for training for how many?
Zurcher: Five weeks and forget.
Makhachev: No five weeks, minimum two to three years.
Zurcher: OK I stay here minimum two to three years… I came here because Sept.13 I’m having my UFC debut. I came to train with the best. Get help from Islam. I will win my first fight Inshallah.
Makhachev: But brother, first two days you eating all day
Zurcher: Okay, today only day holiday. Monday we start training, diet and everything — I’m gonna make weight.
There has yet to be any official announcement about Zurcher’s debut. The Professional Fighters League veteran has finished seven of his nine pro wins so far.
