Jermall Charlo and Brandon Adams Make Weight for WBC Middleweight Title Bout

Jermall Charlo will look to defend his World Boxing Council middleweight title against Brandon Adams. This comes a week after his identical twin brother, Jermell, knocked out Jorge Cota is just three rounds. Charlo will hope to repeat that sort of performance and keep his undefeated record intact against “The Contender” season five winner.

Charlo (28-0, 21 KO) is fighting back in his hometown of Houston for the first time since 2012. In the past seven years, “Hitman” has become a world champion at both junior middleweight and now middleweight, although he only holds the latter because Saul "Canelo" Alvarez has been elevated to the “franchise champion” just two days ago. Regardless of sanctioning body tomfoolery, the -2200 favorite Charlo is taking this bout seriously and weighed in at a trim 159.5 pounds.

Adams (21-2, 13 KO) is a major underdog going into his first world title bout as the oddsmakers have him at +1180. He’s currently riding a four-fight win streak, with his latest coming over the son of boxing royalty in Shane Mosley Jr. He looked prepared at the weigh-in and came in at a healthy 160 pounds.

The co-main event will feature two light heavyweight mainstays in Erickson Lubin and Zakaria Attou. Lubin (20-1, 15 KO) will be looking to propel himself to another world title shot, as he lost his only opportunity at gold after being embarrassingly knocked out by Jermell Charlo in the first round of their 2017 fight. He’s a heavy -2125 favorite over his opponent. Attou (29-6-2, 7 KO) might not offer much of a punching threat, as he has won his last seven fights by decision against regional European fighters.

The three-fight main card will air live on Showtime starting at 9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. PT.

Charlo vs. Adams Weigh-In Results:

Jermall Charlo (159.5) vs. Brandon Adams (160)
Erickson Lubin (153.75) vs. Zakaria Attou (153.75)
Claudio Marrero (125.75) vs. Eduardo Ramirez (125.25)
