Jessica Andrade to Make Octagon Debut at UFC on Fox 8 Against Liz Carmouche

A women’s bantamweight clash between Liz Carmouche and Jessica Andrade is now official for UFC on Fox 8, the promotion announced on Monday.

Andrade takes the place of Miesha Tate, who is now coaching the upcoming season of "The Ultimate Fighter" opposite Ronda Rousey. UFC on Fox 8 takes place at the KeyArena in Seattle will feature a flyweight title contest pitting reigning champion Demetrious Johnson against John Moraga. The card also includes a 170-pound showdown between Rory MacDonald and Jake Ellenberger.

Carmouche put a scare into Rousey at UFC 157, trapping the women’s bantamweight champion in a tight neck crank before eventually succumbing to an armbar 4:49 into round one of the first female fight in promotion history. Before falling to Rousey, “Girl-Rilla” earned back-to-back wins over Ashleigh Curry and Kaitlin Young under the Invicta Fighting Championships banner.

Andrade, 21, makes her UFC debut having won nine of her first 11 professional bouts, with all of the Brazilian’s victories coming by way of knockout, technical knockout or submission. “Bate Estaca” is 2-0 thus far in 2013, earning second-round submission victories over Luciana dos Passos Pereira and Milana Dudieva.
