Jimi Manuwa ‘It’s Kill or be Killed’ Against Jan Blachowicz

Jimi Manuwa, who was violently knocked out by Volkan Oezdemir last July, returns this weekend at UFC Fight Night 127. The “Poster Boy” will take on the man he previously beat via unanimous decision in Jan Blachowicz. Out of Manawa’s 20 professional career fights, the bout against Blachowicz is the only time he has gone to a decision with the English slugger either finishing or being finished by his opponents.

Blachowicz on the other hand, is on a two-fight winning streak, with his last victory coming via a unanimous decision in December against Jared Cannonier.

Manuwa recently talked with MMAJunkie.com about his knockout loss and how he’s putting it behind him and focussing on the job at hand this weekend against Blachowicz.

“You get caught, and with us being big guys I expect the fight to go one way or the other. It’s kill or be killed. I’ve knocked out a lot of people in my career, and (now) I’ve taken one. It is what it is. I can also give it as well as take it. I took one for the love of the sport. Now I’m back to give one.”

Manuwa is hopeful to add to his 15 career knockouts and will be focused on putting on a show in his homeland this weekend to propel himself back into title contention. It won’t be easy though, as Blachowicz hasn’t been stopped since March 2011.
