Although the visual evidence appeared to the contrary, Joanna Jedrzejczyk did not suffer a broken foot in her victory over Michelle Waterson on Saturday.

On Saturday, the Polish fighter speculated that she broke her right foot in the second or third round of her decision triumph against “The Karate Hottie” at UFC Fight Night 161 in Tampa, Fla. The foot was badly swollen and bruised during the fight, but it did not appear to adversely affected Jedrzejczyk’s performance. During an appearance on Ariel Helwani’s MMA Show on Monday, the former strawweight champion revealed some good news regarding her injury.

"I got the results yesterday and my foot was not broken," Jedrzejczyk said. "The swelling was so big, and I had lots of pain during the fight. I thought it was broken. And even all the tests I had before the X-ray, and all the doctors were saying it's broken, it's fractured, but it's not.”

That dominant performance against Waterson gives Jedrzejczyk two consecutive wins at 115 pounds. The American Top Team representative claims that she was given assurances by the promotion before signing the contract to compete at UFC Tampa that a victory would warrant a shot against reigning 115-pound queen Weili Zhang.

"I would not sign the agreement before this fight with Michelle Waterson if I was not going to fight for the belt after the victory," Jedrzejczyk said. "Done deal. They need me more than you think.”
