John Lineker is ready and rearing to go in the One Championship bantamweight division.
One Championship returned to Jakarta, Indonesia, for One: Dawn of Valor, which went down on Oct. 25.
It took three rounds to former Ultimate Fighting Championship contender John Lineker to acclimatize into the One bantamweight division — which posts its limit at the 145-pound mark — but he eventually secured a unanimous decision victory. Lineker (32-9) faced a very stubborn Muin Gafurov, who refused to yield despite the lethal striking of his opponent. "Hands of Stone" came close to finishing the fight in the opening stanza after one of his body shots forced his opponent to step back. Eventually, Gafurov managed to recover, but he was never really able to limit his opponent's offense. Lineker bounced back on track with this victory after his previous fight saw him losing a split decision to Cory Sandhagen.
The main event of the card featured a welterweight title fight between defending champion Zebaztian Kadestam and Kiamrian Abbasov. The action between these two went back and forth for all the five rounds, with Abbasov imposing his superior wrestling skills as the fight went on. Kadestam tried to block his opponent's takedowns attempts, but he ended up being overwhelmed by the Kyrgyz fighter's shots both against the fence and on the ground. Abbasov (22-4) took home the victory and the belt after the judges awarded him a unanimous decision. The Kyrgyz fighter is now on a 4-fight winning streak.
In the co-main event, the judged awarded Priscilla Hertati Lumban Gaol (7-4) her second consecutive unanimous decision. In front of a partisan crowd, Lumban Gaol edged Bozhena Antoniyar.
Elsewhere, Mark Abelardo (19-6) bested Jumayi Ayideng via unanimous verdict; in the first MMA fight on the main card, Eko Roni Saputra (1-1) defeated Kaji Ebin via TKO after Saputra dislocated his shoulder at the 0:19 mark in the opening round.
