The UFC continues to add European flavor to UFC Copenhagen. On Tuesday, the promotion announced that Welsh fighter John Phillips will take on Alen Amedovski in a middleweight clash.
Phillips is riding a three-fight losing streak that includes a controversial split-decision defeat to Jack Marshman in his most recent bout at UFC London in March. Before that, Phillips suffered submission losses to both Kevin Holland and Charles Byrd. “The Welsh Wrecking Machine” is looking for his first win inside the Octagon in his fourth fight.
Amedovski, like Phillips, has yet to win in the UFC. The Macedonia fighter has only one fight inside the Las Vegas-based promotion, a decision loss to Krzysztof Jotko at UFC Fight Night 149 on April 20. Before that, the 31-year-old had two knockout wins in Bellator MMA. All of his eight career triumphs have come by knockout or technical knockout.
UFC Copenhagen goes down on Sept. 28 and is headlined by a middleweight bout between Jared Cannonier and Jack Hermansson.
