John Phillips vs. Dusko Todorovic Moved from UFC London to Cage Warriors 113

One canceled fight from the soon-to-be relocated UFC London card has been added to the Cage Warriors 113 lineup, and there could be more to come.

The European promotion announced Monday that a middleweight clash pitting John Phillips against Dusko Todorovic has been added to Cage Warriors 113. Phillips vs. Todorovic was originally slated for UFC Fight Night 171, but when the Las Vegas-based promotion announced plans to relocate the event from London to an as-yet-to-be-determined venue in the United States due to travel restrictions as a result of the coronavirus, that was one of many bouts that fell by the wayside.

According to a release, Cage Warriors CEO Graham Boylan is working with UFC officials to salvage some of the other contests from UFC London that were scrapped as a result of the change.

“We’re working non-stop, around the clock to make this event the most iconic in the history of European MMA” Boylan said. “The way it’s looking, we could well be the only major sports promotion on the continent broadcasting live this weekend, into millions of homes around the world.

“Since day one, we’ve aimed to provide the most respected platform in Europe for athletes to showcase their skills. Now we’re proud to do our bit to help some of the guys who lost their chance to fight on this week’s UFC card.”

Cage Warriors 113 takes place at the Indigo at the O2 in London and will be held behind closed doors with no fans in attendance. The card features a trio of title fight: Morgan Charriere vs. Darko Banovic for the interim featherweight belt; Mason Jones vs. Joe McColgan for the lightweight crown and Samir Faiddine vs. Luke Shanks for the flyweight championship. Prelims will stream via UFC Fight Pass on Friday beginning at 1 p.m. ET followed by the main card at 5 p.m. ET.

Phillips began his UFC tenure with three consecutive losses but rebounded to post his first Octagon triumph with a 17-second KO of Alen Amedovski at UFC Fight Night 160 on Sept. 28. The 34-year-old Welshman is 2-2 under the Cage Warriors banner and owns a 22-9 professional mark overall.

Serbia’s Todorovic will be making his Octagon debut after earning a UFC contract with a decision victory over Teddy Ash on Dana White’s Contender Series this past August. The 25-year-old is 9-0 with eight of his triumphs coming via knockout, technical knockout or submission.
