Jon Jones Rips Israel Adesanya: ‘F—k With a Beast Like Me and I Will Expose You’

With Israel Adesanya making the media rounds ahead of UFC 243, his budding rivalry with light heavyweight champion Jon Jones has been a popular topic of conversation.

“The Last Stylebender” has not been shy when it comes to addressing a potential fight with Jonny “Bones,” and this week he even gave a tentative timetable for their hypothetical matchup. Adesanya will face Robert Whittaker in a middleweight title unification bout in the UFC 243 headliner in Melbourne on Saturday.

“[Jones] is definitely a boss in that game I want to play against,” Adesanya recently told The Mac Life. “Raiders Stadium, in Las Vegas, that’s where it’s going to happen. I decided in July, when I was in Vegas.

“The middleweight division is getting stacked right now. [Paulo Henrique] Costa, I got to take care of, and a few others. I’m saying 2021... probably early.”

Adesanya later added that he believes Jones is in decline, and that he was less than impressed with the Jackson-Wink MMA standout’s victory over Thiago Santos this past summer.

“Nah,” Adesanya said. “I saw him live. When you see someone live, you know. Nah, he’s not the same.”

Those remarks prompted a scathing response from Jones on Twitter.

“Keep convincing yourself that one day you’ll be ready to face a boss like me. I’ll keep convincing myself that when that day comes, I will make you my absolute bitch,” Jones wrote.

“You said you saw me fight in person against Thiago and I didn’t look the same. I also got to see you fight [Kelvin Gastelum], didn’t need to be in person. You were almost knocked out on more than one occasion,” he continued. “Thiago couldn’t even touch my face and he grew up kickboxing. You only got to see my striking that night and now you’re convinced you’ll beat me? Let me see you in a wrestling match or a jujitsu tournament, you probably wouldn’t even place.”

Jones had a more difficult than expect bout with Santos, but he still prevailed via split decision. And while it may have seemed competitive live, Jones outlanded his opponent in every round but the first while connecting at a 65 percent success rate. Santos, meanwhile, threw in volume but landed just 25 percent of his significant strikes.

The light heavyweight champion concluded by warning Adesanya not to believe his own hype. The Nigerian-born Kiwi is 17-0 thus far in his professional career, a record that includes six triumphs in UFC competition.

I can see you’re starting to sip your own Kool-Aid, I know how it feels, I’ve been there before,” Jones wrote. “Only I was around 23. Just don’t become delusional kid, f--k with a beast like me and I will expose you.”
