Jorge Masvidal Wants to Fight Conor McGregor Because It's 'An Easy Paycheck'

After Jorge Masvidal made UFC history with the fastest knockout — five seconds — last Saturday, he has his sights set on Conor McGregor.

"I want [Conor] McGregor. I want to break his face. I think that's an easy paycheck," Masvidal said on The Dan Le Batard Show. "He's got these cash symbols written all over his face for me. I just don't see it going his way if I'm honest with you."

Masvidal is not wrong about McGregor having cash symbols. On Wednesday, "Notorious" was ranked 65th on Forbes' highest-paid celebrity list, earning $47 million last year.

"It'd just be more money, more fans," Masvidal said. "And then fight for the title. Or the title. Either one of them makes sense to me.

"I think either or equal out to big, big checks. So I'm happy with either or. I think Conor is a bigger check, so I wouldn't mind Conor. I want to put money away in the bank. Like I said, I've been doing this a while."

As "Gamebred" says, fighting the Irishman would likely provide him a hefty paycheck, if history is any indication. Most opponents to fight "The Notorious" after he was a UFC champion and a mega star all made big money with Khabib Nurmagomedov making $2 million after UFC 229, as did Nate Diaz at UFC 202.

Eddie Alvarez may have also cracked seven figures when he competed at UFC 205, while making an estimated $540,000 salary in his fight with McGregor. In Alvarez's previous outing he only made $150,000, so McGregor's presence may have boosted that dollar amount by almost $400,000.

Although the McGregor fight is one he wants, Masvidal makes it clear getting the welterweight title is still his main goal. And, after the highlight reel knockout over Ben Askren at UFC 239, he put himself in track to at least fight for that goal in the near future.
