“This is an incredible rematch that had to happen after these two fought an all-out war for three straight rounds,” said Combate Americas CEO Campbell McLaren. “If their rematch is anything like their first meeting, we will have a ‘Fight of the Year’ candidate on our hands.”
Five other bouts were announced for the card: Kobe Ortiz vs. James Cannon at middleweight; Oscar Suarez vs. Joao Camilo at flyweight; Andy Perez vs. Alvarado Osuna at bantamweight; Codie Wareham vs. Gabby Romero at strawweight and Marisol Ruelas vs. Corrie Ward at strawweight.
Alday and Lopez initially squared off with the vacant 135-pound belt at stake this past September, with Alday winning a three-round split decision. Alday has won three bouts in a row, while Lopez will attempt to snap a two-fight skid.
