“This may have been my last time in the Octagon,” Aldo wrote in a three paragraph letter to fans, leaving doubt in the air.
It appears that Aldo’s future could be clarified next Saturday, as the former featherweight champion has called a press conference to further explain his post. The event will be broadcast live on Aldo’s Instagram.
“Stay tuned and follow everything closely,” Aldo wrote.
Aldo’s full Instagram post from this past weekend is as follows:
“This MAY have been my last time in the octagon. During this week, I experienced one of the greatest battles of my life, and it wasn’t against an opponent, but within myself. In recent years, I have once again nurtured the dream of being a champion. I trained as always, I gave my all like never before. But, as I cut weight, something inside me said: “You don’t need this anymore”. And I listened. It’s time to move on, to live for my wife, for my children. To celebrate the history I wrote with each war, each belt, conquered with blood, sweat and faith. Thank you Dana White and Lorenzo Fertitta. Thank you UFC. And most of all, thank you, my fans. You were the fuel on each walk towards the octagon. You made me king. If this was my farewell, be sure that I leave in peace. With my chest full of gratitude and my head held high. Because I made history. Because I lived my dream. Because, above all, I was faithful to myself.”
