Julia Budd to Defend Bellator Featherweight Title vs. Olga Rubin on July 12 in Oklahoma

Julia Budd will attempt to make her third successful Bellator featherweight title defense when she faces Olga Rubin on July 12 in Thackerville, Okla.

The California-based promotion announced the bout during the Bellator 218 broadcast on Friday night. The upcoming event will take place at WinStar World Casino & Resort and will air on Paramount Network and DAZN.

Budd became Bellator’s inaugural 145-pound queen with a fourth-round TKO of Marloes Coenen in March 2017. She has since defended the belt with a split decision against Arlene Blencowe at Bellator 189 and a third-round TKO of Talita Nogueira at Bellator 202. The 35-year-old Canadian is on a 10-fight winning streak overall dating back to her Invicta FC debut in July 2012. Budd’s last defeat came to Ronda Rousey at Strikeforce Challengers 20 on Nov. 18, 2011.

Irsrael’s Rubin has kicked off her professional tenure with six consecutive victories, including three in a row under the Bellator banner. Most recently, Rubin outpointed Iony Razafiarison at Bellator 217 on Feb. 23.
