A heavyweight showdown pitting Junior dos Santos against Alexander Volkov will serve as the main event when the Ultimate Fighting Championship travels to Moscow on Nov. 9.
Volkov announced the booking on his Instagram account Saturday. The UFC Fight Night event takes place at the CSKA Arena in Moscow and is expected to air on ESPN+.
A former heavyweight champion, dos Santos had a three-bout winning streak snapped at UFC on ESPn 3, where he suffered a first-round TKO loss to Francis Ngannou on June 29. “Cigano” owns a 21-6 career mark that includes triumphs over the likes of Stipe Miocic, Cain Velasquez, Fabricio Werdum, Frank Mir, Mark Hunt, Derrick Lewis and Roy Nelson, among others.
Volkov hasn’t competed since October 2018, when Derrick Lewis ended his six-fight winning streak with a late third-round knockout at UFC 229. The former Bellator MMA heavyweight champion kicked off his tenure in the Las Vegas-based promotion with victories over Timothy Johnson, Roy Nelson, Stefan Struve and Werdum.
