K-1 “Dynamite!! USA” Play-by-Play

Sherdog.com reports from the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum in Southern Calif. with live play-by-play of K-1 "Dynamite!! USA," which features the rematch between Kazushi Sakuraba (Pictures) and Royce Gracie (Pictures).

Gesias Calvancanti (Pictures) vs. Nam Phan (Pictures)
Round 1
The fighters come out to a cheer from the still sparse crowd. JZ immediately clinches and, despite Phan's best effort, is put on the canvas. Calvancanti delivers a right hand to the body and several left hands to the face before referee Mario Yamasaki jumps in to stop the contest 26 seconds after the opening bell.

Isaiah Hill (Pictures) vs. Katsuhiko Nagata (Pictures)
Round 1
Hill opens agressively with punches and a knee. The fighters clinch along the ropes and Nagata scores the first takedown from the body clinch. Nagata bleeding pretty well from the nose. Nagata using effective ground and pound. Nagata goes for Hill's back but slips off. Hill throws more punches. Referee stoppage to look at Nagata's nose. The doctor allows it to continue. Nagata shoots for a single-leg, Hill falls to guard and tries to lock up a guillotine. Nagata escapes and continues his ground and pound assault. Referee stands them up. Hill charges forward but Nagata puts him back on the ground. The first round goes to Nagata on the Sherdog score card 10-9.

Round 2
Nagata scores yet another takedown, this time landing in half-guard. Nagata warned for the second time for striking to the back of the head. Hill elevates Nagata with his legs and jumps to his feet. Another body-lock takedown for Nagata. Nagata gets to side-control. Hill gets his guard back but has no answer for Nagata's takedowns. Nagata working from North-South position. Another round in the bank for Nagata by a score of 10-9.

Round 3
Nagata ducks under a Hill right hand and pulls him to the mat with a single-leg takedown. Hill reverses but the fighters get tangled in the ropes. After referee Cecil Peoples restarts them, Nagata puts Hill back on the canvas. Another referee stand up leads to Hill's biggest outburst since the first exchange. He rockes Nagata with a combination of punches but he loses his momentum when he attempts another guillotine and Nagata easily escapes. Nagata back in control on top. He moves to mount and then side-control where he looked to be searching for a key lock. Peoples stands the fighters back up and the round comes to a close. Sherdog.com scores the final round 10-9 for Nagata once again. The official scores are read giving Katsuhiko Nagata a split decison over Isaiah Hill by totals of 30-27, 29-28 and 28-29.

Jonathan Wiezorek (Pictures) vs. Tim Persey (Pictures)
Round 1
Persey rushes in with a wild right hand. Wiezorek clinches against the ropes. Wiezorek fights to drag down Persey before referee Herb Dean restarts the action. Wiezorek lands a knee or three to Persey's groin. Persey takes a minute to recover before the fight restarts. Persey drops Wiezorek with a right hand. Persey dropping bombs from Wiezorek's closed-guard. Wiezorek latches on a Kimura. Persey escapes and answers with leather. Both fighters back to their feet. Wiezorek scores a takedown. Sherdog.com sees the first frame 10-9 for Persey.

Round 2
Persey cracks Wiezorek with a left and a right. Wiezorek takes Persey down and quickly gets his back. Wiezorek flattens him out and pounds away at Persey's head until Herb Dean stopped the fight. The official time is 0:50 of the second round.

Jake Shields (Pictures) vs. Ido Pariente (Pictures)
Round 1
Shields lands a solid kick to the body. Shields takes the fight to the canvas. Shields quickly moves to mount. Shields pounds away with lefts and rights. Shields takes Ido's back and works for a rear naked choke. Pariente fights to escape but is forced to tap at 2:06 of the first round.

Bernard Ackah (Pictures) vs. Johnnie Morton (Pictures)
Round 1
Morton wings wild punches and eats a left in the process. Morton scores a takedown but Ackah quickly gets back to his feet. Ackah knocks Morton out cold with a brutal straight right. The official time is 0:38 of the first frame. Morton is fitted with a neck restraint and carried from the ring by a stretcher.

Showtime's Jay Glazer reports on the pay-per-view that Dong Sik Yoon refused to remove tape from an uninjured ankle, thus delaying the start of his contest with Melvin Manhoef. It is stated that the bout will take place later in the evening.

Siala "Mighty Mo" Siliga (Pictures) vs. Ruben Villareal (Pictures)
Round 1
Warpath clinches with Mo and pushes him against the ropes. Mo digs a right hand into Warpath's body. Mo drops Warpath with a left hand. He rocks his opponent with a hard shot to the fallen fighter's body and head for good measure. The official time is 1:33 of the first round.

Dong Sik Yoon (Pictures) vs. Melvin Manhoef (Pictures)
Round 1
Yoon Slips and pays the price with a barrage of punches from Manhoef. Yoon gets back to his feet before pulling Manhoef into his closed guard. Manhoef gets back to his feet after Yoon failed in an armbar attempt. Yoon drags Manhoef down. The South Korean works from side-control. Yoon steps over and takes the mount. Manhoef again scurries to his feet after avoiding an armbar. Sherdog.com scores the close round 10-9 for Dong Sik Yoon.

Round 2
Yoon, despite having his right eye completely swollen shut, scores a takedown early in the frame. Yoon moves to mount. Manhoef gives up his back. Yoon transitions beautifully into a tapout inducing armbar at 1:17 of the second stanza. Great fight.

Brad Pickett (Pictures) vs. Hideo Tokoro (Pictures)
Round 1
Tokoro lands a hard right low kick. The Japanese fighter takes the fight to the floor with a slick single leg. Pickett reverses the position before getting back to his feet. Pickett crushes Tokoro with a right hand but momentum takes both fighters to the ground. Tokoro works briefly for a heel hook but Pickett escapes. Tokoro goes high with his hips and catches a fight ending armbar. Pickett taps quickly at 2:41 of the first round.

Royce Gracie (Pictures) vs. Kazushi Sakuraba (Pictures)

Royce Gracie makes his way to the ring. Kazushi Sakuraba follows wearing a white and orange mask.

Round 1
Sakuraba catches Royce with a right hand that makes Royce lose balance. Sakuraba, standing, attacks Royce's right foot. Gracie lands an upkick that forces Sakuraba to retreat. Sakuraba works the butt-scooting Gracie's legs with low kicks. The crowd starts to boo. Sakuraba finally engages Royce on the ground. The Japanese fighter is on Royce's back from the side. Royce stands up and Sakuraba slaps on a standing Kimura. Just like their first battle, Sakuraba sticks his head outside of the ropes. Gracie backs away and throws leather at Saku. Sherdog.com sees the round 10-9 for Sakuraba.

Round 2
Gracie kicks weakly at the Japanese fighter. Gracie lands four inside low kicks on Sakuraba's bandaged knee. The action slows to a crawl as Royce leans on Sakuraba against the ropes. Royce knees the inside of Sakuraba's bad knee. Referee Mario Yamasaki restarts the action. Sakuraba nails Gracie with a jumping knee from the clinch. Gracie lands some shots to the body and chin from the clinch. The fighters hug at the end of the round. The crowd reacts with boos. Sherdog.com scores the close, uneventful round 10-9 for Gracie.

Round 3
Sakuraba quickly gets a takedown but Royce looks for a Kimura from his back. Sakuraba is now on Royce's back with one hook. Gracie gets to his feet, but is once again stuck in a standing Kimura. Gracie tries to punch the side of Sakuraba's head, but hits mostly glove. Yamasaki separates the fighters with 40 seconds remaining. Royce shoots but Saku has none of it. Sakuraba sprawls again and takes Gracie's back. The Japanese fighter was working on an armbar as time expires. Sherdog.com sees it 10-9 for Sakuraba. The judges disagree. They score the contest 30-27, 29-28, 29-28 all for Royce Gracie.

Brock Lesnar (Pictures) vs. Min Soo Kim (Pictures)
Round 1
Lesnar bulls in and scores a powerful takedown. Lesnar is in half-guard. Lesnar moves to mount and punishes the South Korean's head. Kim taps quickly at the 1:09 mark. The right side of Kim's face is covered with lumps from the punches.
