Marian Ziolkowski is ready to take advantage of his unexpected opportunity.
KSW 54 will be taking place on Aug. 29 in Warsaw, Poland, where it will be topped by a lightweight championship affair. Two-division king Mateusz Gamrot (16-0, 1 NC) will be putting not only his 155-pound belt up for grabs, but his unbeaten record on the line as he takes on replacement opponent Marian Ziolkowski (21-7-1, 1 NC). Gamrot, who last defended his title in July, was originally slated to face fellow undefeated Shamil Musaev, but after a knee injury to Musaev, Ziolkowski stepped up from a bout earlier on the card. Both fighters made weight for their title showdown, with Gamrot at the 155-pound mark and Ziolkowski weighing in at 154 pounds in response.
The co-headlining bout sees the recently suspended Quentin Domingos (254) welcome boxer Izuagbe Ugonoh (232) to the sport at heavyweight. Also at heavyweight, two power strikers with 25 combined knockouts across 40 victories meet as Michal Andryszak (255) locks horns with Michal Kita (233). In the lightweight division, the surging Maciej Kazieczko (155) takes on a rebounding Karlo Caput (153), with the latter suffering his first career defeat in May 2019. Finally, in a rare bantamweight tilt, Poland’s Pawel Politylo (136) faces the far more experienced Romanian Bogdan Barbu (135).
KSW 54 will go down in Warsaw, Poland, on Aug. 29, kicking off at 2 p.m. ET/11 a.m. PT/7 p.m. GMT on KSWTV.com and Dazn. KSW 54 will be the first event for the promotion following the coronavirus pandemic to allow both fans and media in attendance.
