Kalinn Williams Steps in for Dhiego Lima, Faces Alex Morono at UFC 247

Kalinn Williams will replace the injured Dhiego Lima and meet Alex Morono at UFC 247.

The Las Vegas-based promotion recently confirmed the new welterweight matchup. UFC 247 takes place at the Toyota Center in Houston on Feb. 8 and is headlined by a light heavyweight title tilt between Jon Jones and Dominick Reyes. In the co-main event, Valentina Shevchenko will defend her flyweight crown against Katlyn Chookagian.

A 25-year-old native of Lansing, Mich., Williams has compiled a 9-1 mark while competing for various promotions on the regional circuit. His last appearance came in November, when he garnered a unanimous verdict over Bellator veteran Jeremie Holloway at a Warrior Xtreme Cagefighting Event in Michigan. Williams has finished four of his victories by KO/TKO and one via submission.

A nine-time UFC competitor, Morono is currently riding a three-bout winning streak that includes triumphs over Kenan Song, Zak Ottow and Max Griffin. He is 6-2 with one no contest over the course of his promotional tenure.
