Koscheck, Yoshida Weighed In for the Troops
Sherdog.com Staff Dec 10, 2008
Only 45 days removed from his Oct. 25 tussle with Thiago Alves
at UFC 90, Josh
Koscheck stepped back onto the scales at the Sports USA Bar in
Fort Bragg, North Carolina, for the official weigh-ins for UFC
“Fight for the Troops.”
The American Kickboxing Academy protégé weighed in at 171 pounds for his welterweight bout against judoka Yoshiyuki Yoshida, who also came in at 171 pounds.
Koscheck (11-3) will look to rebound from a unanimous decision loss
to number-one contender Alves, while Yoshida (10-2) returns to the
Octagon from a seven-month layoff after an injured Karo
Parisyan withdrew a day before their intended UFC 88 clash last
September.
In the night’s co-headliner, Koscheck’s teammate Mike Swick also checked in at 171 pounds. Former middleweight Swick (15-4) faces Canadian striker Jonathan Goulet (22-9), also 171 pounds, in his third welterweight go.
Proceeds from “Fight for the Troops” will benefit The Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund, a not-for-profit organization that provides financial support to the families of deceased and severely wounded U.S. Armed Forces veterans. The Fund plans to build the National Intrepid Center of Excellence, to treat military personnel and veterans suffering from traumatic brain injury (TBI).
“Fight for the Troops” will broadcast live Wednesday on Spike TV at 9 p.m. EST/6 p.m. PST.
