LFA 17 Weigh-in Results: Thiago Moises, Robert Watley Cleared for Title Tilt
Houston-based
Legacy Fighting Alliance is set to take full control of Grady
Cole Center in Charlotte, North Carolina, on Friday night as the
promotion’s inaugural lightweight champion will be crowned.
Thiago
Moises will lock horns with Robert
Watley for the crown and at Thursday’s official weigh-ins, the
combatants came in on target.
Watley, a former Shogun Fights lightweight titlist, has won seven in a row, with four of them coming via knockout or submission. “Contact” tipped the scale exactly at the division’s limit of 155 pounds. Moises, who has won his last four, is the last-ever 155-pound champ for the now-defunct Resurrection Fighting Alliance. The Brazilian was a few ounces heavier on the scale at 154.4 pounds.
The LFA
17 co-feature will see Keith
Richardson take on Tony
Gravely in a 140-pound catchweight battle. Richardson, from
Team Alpha Male, took the fight on two days’ notice when
Dylan
Cala pulled out and came in at 140 pounds. Gravely, meanwhile,
checked in at 139.8 pounds.
The anticipated brawl between Alexa Conners and Talita de Oliveira was scratched in the hours before the weigh-ins due to Conners having a difficult weight cut. The women didn’t weigh in as Conners fell ill and had to withdraw from the bout.
LFA 17 will be televised live on AXS TV Friday night beginning at 9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. PT.
