It was a rough night at the office for Liam McGeary at Bellator 220.

Not only did the former light heavyweight champion lose in his rematch with Phil Davis, but he suffered a broken jaw and a lost a tooth in the process. McGeary shared a picture of the X-ray from his injury on social media over the weekend.

“Ugh…the jaw cracked in the second round and the tooth went in the [third],” McGeary wrote on Instagram. “Soon as that arm came round and touched my jaw that was enough for me guys!! That hurt like a mutha f--ka and you know I can take some s--t too!!! F--k it man, I was too worried about the takedowns in the first i was hesitant.

“S--t you took me down in the [third] and I got right back the f--k up! I've stepped my game up man, wrestlers don’t bother me anymore.... just the bloody dentist hahah.”

McGeary was visibly hurt by a left from Davis in the third round, and from there, “Mr. Wonderful” took his opponent down and hammered away with punches from mount until the Brit tapped out. In their first meeting at Bellator 163, Davis relied on his wrestling to win a dominant decision and take the 205-pound belt from McGeary.

“Congrats [to Phil] good s—t mate, enjoyed throwing down with you man,” McGeary wrote. “I’ll see you in the bar for a beer when I get done here.”

McGeary has lost four of his last six fights after beginning his professional career with 11 consecutive triumphs.
