Francisco Trinaldo will square off against Jai Herbert in a lightweight bout at UFC “Fight Island” on July 25.
Combate was first to report the 155-pound matchup. The card takes place at Yas Island in Abu Dhabi and is headlined by a middleweight showdown between Robert Whittaker and Darren Till. The main card airs at 2 p.m. ET/10 a.m. PT, while the prelims begin at 11 a.m. ET/8 a.m. PT.
Trinaldo enters the bout on a two-fight winning streak after taking unanimous decisions over Bobby Green at UFC Fight Night 164 and against John Makdessi at UFC Fight Night 170. The 41-year-old Brazilian is 15-6 in the Octagon since beginning his promotional tenure in 2012 and owns notable wins over the likes of Paul Felder, Jim Miller, Evan Dunham, Yancy Medeiros and Ross Pearson.
Herbert, the former Cage Warriors lightweight champion, enters his first promotional foray with a 10-1 career record. The 32-year-old Englishman has won six consecutive fights since 2017, with all but one coming via knockout or technical knockout. In his most recent appearance, the Renegade Jiu-Jitsu product knocked out two-time UFC veteran Cain Carrizosa with a flying knee at Cage Warriors 109 on Oct. 26.
