A new lightweight scrap has been added to UFC Fight Night 153 lineup. According to Sherdog’s own sources, Joel Alvarez will welcome UFC newcomer Danilo Belluardo in the Octagon.
“El Fenomeno” Alvarez (15-2) is coming off a loss in his Octagon debut against Damir Ismagulov, who snapped the Spanish fighter’s impressive 10-bout winning streak. Alvarez is the former lightweight champion of Ansgar Fighting League, after he won the belt submitting Radu Maxim at AFL 17.
Belluardo is a former Bellator MMA contender who debuts in the UFC riding a six-fight win streak. In his last bout, “Caterpillar” defeated Brazilian Denilson Neves de Oliveira to capture the Venator FC lightweight belt. Prior to that, he submitted Elia Madau at Venator Inside 1 and defeated Dragoljub Stanojevic via first-round TKO in the main event of The Golden Cage 2.
UFC Fight Night 153 will go down on June 1 at Ericsson Globe in Stockholm, Sweden. The event's headliner is a light heavyweight bout between Alexander Gustafsson and Anthony Smith.
