Tyson Griffin and Gesias Cavalcante have verbally agreed to meet at World Series of Fighting 4 on Aug. 10.
After competing at featherweight in his final two UFC appearances, Griffin returned to 155 pounds in November, taking a unanimous verdict over Efrain Escudero at Resurrection Fighting Alliance 4. Griffin won seven of his first nine fights in the Octagon, but came up short in four of his last five outings with the Las Vegas-based promotion.
A former K-1 Hero’s middleweight tournament champion, Cavalcante has not recorded back-to-back victories since 2007. “JZ” has split a pair of bouts in the WSOF, submitting T.J. O’Brien in the promotion’s November debut before suffering a first-round technical knockout loss to Justin Gaethje at WSOF 2 in March.
