Lytle-Ebersole Completes 12-Fight Bill for UFC 127

A speculated welterweight duel between “The Ultimate Fighter 4” finalist Chris Lytle and experienced journeyman Brian Ebersole was made official for UFC 127 “Penn vs. Fitch” on Tuesday.

Lytle was originally slated to take on Greg Jackson product Carlos Condit at the event, but the “Natural Born Killer” was forced to withdraw last week due to a knee injury. With Ebersole stepping in to fill the void, the fight card for UFC 127 is once again complete with 12 bouts.

The event, which takes place Feb. 27 at Acer Arena in Sydney, Australia, will be headlined by a welterweight No. 1 contender bout between former title challenger Jon Fitch and pound-for-pound great B.J. Penn. Also scheduled for the event is a middleweight tilt between fringe contenders Michael Bisping and Jorge Rivera, as well as a lightweight scrap pitting hometown favorite George Sotiropoulos against German striker Dennis Siver.

Lytle was last seen in September, when he avenged his loss to Matt Serra in the “TUF 4” finale by out-boxing the former welterweight champion. “Lights Out” has won four straight bouts inside the Octagon, besting Kevin Burns, Brian Foster and Matt Brown before conquering Serra. A veteran of 52 professional fights, Lytle began his career in 1999 and made his UFC debut in 2000 at UFC 28.

Another longtime competitor in the sport, Ebersole had his first pro bout in 2000. The “Bad Boy” has more than 60 contests under his belt and has finished 20 of his opponents by submission. An American expat who now resides in Australia, Ebersole rides a seven-fight winning streak into his UFC debut against Lytle. Ebersole’s only loss in nearly four years came to Bellator middleweight champion Hector Lombard in 2008.
