A strawweight bout pitting Mackenzie Dern against Hannah Cifers has been targeted for the UFC’s scheduled card on May 23.
MMAFighting.com was first to report the booking. The promotion has revealed that events on May 9, 13 and 16 will take place in Jacksonville, Florida, but a location for the May 23 card is currently unknown. Cifers initially stepped in to replace Ariane Carnelossi and face Dern at UFC Fight Night 173 on April 25 before that card was canceled.
After becoming a mother for the first time last year, Dern return to the Octagon in October, when she suffered her first career defeat against Amanda Ribas at UFC Fight Night 161. The Brazilian jiu-jitsu ace began her professional tenure with seven consecutive triumphs, including a wins over Ashley Yoder and Amanda Bobby Cooper in the UFC.
Cifers, meanwhile, has gone 2-2 in four UFC outings. Most recently, “Shockwave” suffered a second-round TKO defeat to Angela Hill at UFC Fight Night 166 on Jan. 25. The 27-year-old North Carolina native is 10-4 as a professional overall.
