Reza Madadi will step in for Mairbek Taisumov and meet Joaquim Silva on short notice at UFC Fight Night 109.

The Las Vegas-based promotion announced the new lightweight pairing on Friday. A reason was not given for Taisumov’s withdrawal, but MMAjunkie.com previously reported that a shoulder injury led to his exit from the card.

UFC Fight Night 109 takes place at Ericsson Globe in Stockholm on May 28 and is headlined by a light heavyweight duel between Alexander Gustafsson and Glover Teixeira. The evening’s main card airs on Fox Sports 1.

Madadi is coming off a unanimous decision loss to Joseph Duffy at UFC Fight Night 107 on March 18. The 38-year-old known as “Mad Dog” is 3-3 in the Octagon, including a notable submission triumph over Michael Johnson at UFC on Fuel TV 9 in April 2013.

Silva is unbeaten in nine professional appearances and owns victories over Andrew Holbrook and Nazareno Malegarie in the UFC. He has finished all but one of his wins inside the distance.
