An already stacked ESPN card for the Ultimate Fighting Championship in Columbus, Ohio, has added a scrap that promises plenty of action.

On Friday, ESPN quietly released a bantamweight matchup that currently makes UFC Columbus a 14-bout affair. Marlon Vera (15-5-1) will be taking Eddie Wineland (24-13-1) at the Nationwide Arena on March 28. It is unclear if the bout will take place on the main card or the preliminary portion of the event.

Vera has amassed an impressive five-fight finish streak, with none of his opponents lasting to the third round with the surging Eduadorian. In that stretch, “Chito” has dispatched opponents including Andre Ewell, Frankie Saenz and Guido Cannetti. The 13-fight UFC vet has finished his opponent in eight of his nine UFC wins, while he has never been stopped in his pro career.

Wineland bounced back from a two-fight, two-year skid to John Dodson and Alejandro Perez with a big knockout victory over Grigory Popov at UFC 238 in June 2019. The former World Extreme Cagefighting champ will be looking to right his record inside the Octagon to .500 with a win. While his career finish rate of 79 percent trails that of his opponent (87 percent), the 35-year-old from Indiana has stopped 15 opponents due to strikes over the years.

UFC Columbus will go down at the Nationwide Arena on March 28 in Columbus, Ohio. The event will be headlined by a heavyweight slugfest and potential title eliminator between Francis Ngannou and Jairzinho Rozenstruik. Serving as the co-main attraction will be a bantamweight tussle between perennial contender Raphael Assuncao and former champ Cody Garbrandt. The event is slated to air in its entirety on ESPN.
