Like last week, the PFL sent out a press release announcing a new owner has joined the group. The previous week, Grammy nominated rapper Wiz Khalifa had joined the team. Per the organization on Thursday, Super Bowl 48 champ and five-time Pro Bowler Marshawn Lynch has joined the team. Lynch has joined the PFL’s ownership group alongside celebrities and personalities like Kevin Hart, the aforementioned Khalifa and TV producer Mark Burnett. Lynch’s stake in the company, and his overall investment, was not disclosed.

When Khalifa joined PFL, his contribution was to be his music as well as multimedia content for the promotion. Lynch will begin his contribution by announcing the “BeastMode MMA Fighter of the Night” after PFL 2: 2021 Regular Season on Thursday, and it is unclear if this means the winner will receive a post-fight bonus like other promotions. Additionally, the PFL will be giving a single fan some gear signed by Lynch. The PFL plans on releasing a line of apparel involving Lynch, with details coming in the future.

“I’m really on that owner hype right now, ya feel me,” Lynch said in a statement. “Pro teams, leagues, companies and brands, I’m wit it. Ownership allows you to be closer to the action, to keep learning and making a difference. At the end of the day, the PFL opportunity is another blessing, that’s all I can really say. PFL is the future of MMA and it’s always a win-win when you can work with like-minded folks.”

The second PFL event of 2021 goes down on April 29 at the Ocean Casino Resort in Atlantic City, N.J. The first took place on April 23, where a slew of upsets including a few former champs were beaten in resounding fashion. This second card will feature welterweights and light heavyweights, with an eight-fight card that begins on ESPN+ at 6 p.m. ET/3 p.m. PT. The main card will commence at 9 p.m. PT/6 p.m. PT, headlined by a 170-pound tilt between Rory MacDonald and Curtis Millender.
