An injury has taken Ultimate Fighting Championship welterweight Matt Brown out of his headlining engagement with Kelvin Gastelum at UFC Fight Night in Monterrey, Mexico.
The organization hopes to keep Gastelum on the Nov. 21 card at Monterrey Arena and stated that “the search for a replacement is underway.” The show’s co-main event slot is currently occupied by a featherweight tilt between Ricardo Lamas and Diego Sanchez.
Brown last competed in July when he submitted Tim Means with a first-round guillotine choke, halting a two-fight losing skid for “The Immortal.” Gastelum, who aims to make his 170-pound return after a one-fight stint at middleweight, stopped Nate Marquardt after two rounds in their June meeting.
