A welterweight bout between Max Griffin and Alex Morono is set for UFC Fight Night 161 in Tampa, Fla.

Sherdog confirmed the news with sources following an initial report from MMAjunkie.com. UFC Fight Night 161 goes down on Oct. 12 on ESPN+ and will be headlined by Joanna Jedrzejczyk taking on Michelle Waterson.

Griffin got back in the win column at UFC 236, whre he beat Zelim Imadaev by majority decision. Before that he dropped a controversial split-decision to Thiago Alves back in February. Out of the 18 media scores collected by MMADecisions.com, 16 had Griffin winning — including all three of Sherdog’s judges. He is currently 3-4 inside the Octagon with the two wins coming over Erick Montano and Mike Perry while he has lost to Colby Covington, Elizeu Zaleski dos Santos, and Curtis Millender.

Morono will be looking to extend his winning streak to three when he takes on Griffin. “The Great White” is coming off of a TKO win over Zak Ottawa at UFC Fight Night 146. That also was his first TKO/KO win in the UFC. The 28-year-old is 5-2 with one no-contest inside the Octagon.
