Max Holloway is using his talents and resources to help give back to the Hawaiian community during the coronavirus pandemic.

Holloway is offering the chance to win private training lessons and dinner with the former UFC featherweight champion in exchange for donations to the Maui Food Bank and Hawaii Food Bank. A winner — and four friends — will be selected through a raffle as part of the All 4 Hawaii Challenge.

Each donation of at least $10 will receive a raffle entry. The winner will also receive Holloway’s signed UFC gloves and will get to select whether they want self defense or MMA-themed training. The donation period runs through May 31.

For Holloway, it’s about helping out during a time of great hardship and uncertainty.

“Unemployment in Hawaii is near 40%, and because our economy is based on tourism, it looks like it's going to be a long road to recovery,” he told UFC.com. “We also got a very high cost of living here, so a lot of people are hurting. The reason why I signed up for this is that the proceeds go directly to the food banks, and the food banks really, really need the help right now.”

Holloway said that he will work on other charitable contributions once the needs of the food banks are sufficiently met.

“There's a lot of needs in Hawaii and all over the world, really, but right now the focus for my team is on the basic needs for Hawaii people, which is food. When the food banks tell us they're good, then we will pivot into helping other areas,” Holloway said. “But right now, we need to make sure people can continue to eat during these tough times.”

Holloway saw his featherweight championship reign come to an end at UFC 245, where he dropped a unanimous decision to Alexander Volkanovski on Dec. 14. The 28-year-old Hawaii native is expected to get a rematch with Volkanovski at a future event.
