MMAWeekly.com was the first to report about the match, which Sherdog.com independently confirmed as well.
Mendes, a protégé of Urijah Faber’s Alpha Male team, will replace Mackens Semerzier, who withdrew from the contest earlier this week due to injury.
The undefeated Mendes, 24, earned a unanimous decision against Erik Koch in his promotional debut at WEC 47 in February. Mendes is a 2008 NCAA Div. 1 wrestling runner-up, a two-time All-American California Polytechnic University, and a two-time PAC-10 champion.
Morrison fell to former WEC champion Mike Thomas Brown via a first-round rear-naked choke at WEC 46 last January. Morrison had strung together back-to-back win in Ring of Fire prior to that.
