Michael Chandler Predicts Knockout Win Over Paddy Pimblett at UFC 314

Michael Chandler (23-9) vows to derail Paddy Pimblett’s (22-3) hype train at UFC 314.

Chandler and Pimblett will meet in lightweight matchup at UFC 314 on April 12 at the Kaseya Center in Miami. Chandler intends to make Pimblett feel from the very first exchange that he’s fighting at a different level.

While Chandler admits that Pimblett is on a streak now, he intends to end it in Miami. “Iron” believes the Liverpudlian will fold under his pressure and go on the backfoot. Chandler will then look for the knockout blow to end the night early.

“I believe he’ll know within his very first exchange he’s not stepping into the Octagon with Bobby Green, with Tony Ferguson,” Chandler told ESPN. “It’s just a different level. And I still believe where I’m at it’s a bad matchup stylistically for him. That first time he gets hit by one of the toughest punchers in the UFC lightweight division, which he has not faced yet, it’s gonna be a different feeling, it’s gonna be a different speed, it’s gonna be a different ferocity that he hasn’t felt before.

“But I do believe he’s got some momentum right now and the Paddy train stops in Miami. And he’s gonna have to go back to the drawing board… I’m gonna land a right hand or a left hook and put his lights out within the first couple of rounds.”

Despite being a fan favorite for his entertaining style, Chandler has gone 2-4 since joining the UFC in 2021. While he only managed to beat Dan Hooker and Ferguson, all of his losses have come against elite competition. Chandler is coming off a unanimous decision loss in a rematch against Charles Oliveira that marked his return to the Octagon after a two- year hiatus.

Meanwhile, Pimblett in undefeated in six UFC outings including four finishes, the latest of which came against Bobby Green in the first round of their UFC 304 clash last year.
