Michael Chiesa Files Lawsuit Against Conor McGregor Over Bus Attack

Michael Chiesa files lawsuit against Conor McGregor as a result of bus attack Ultimate Fighting Championship lightweight Michael Chiesa is officially the first fighter to file a lawsuit against Conor McGregor for damages resulting from the Irishman's April attack of a charter bus which contained several UFC fighters including Chiesa.

TMZ first reported that Chiesa filed his lawsuit against McGregor in the state of New York on Monday seeking damages.

McGregor and group of men stormed the Barclays Center in Brooklyn days before UFC 223 on Apr. 5. The Irishman was looking for Khabib Nurmagomedov -- who was on the bus -- after he confronted McGregor’s teammate Artem Lobov days before in the hotel lobby.

McGregor threw a loading dolly at the front window of the bus smashing it and injuring the forehead of Chiesa in the process, which forced him to withdraw from his scheduled main-card tilt with Anthony Pettis. A warrant was issued for McGregor’s arrest and the former champion later pled guilty to disorderly conduct.

Chiesa claims he suffered “severe emotional distress, mental trauma and/or bodily harm” as a result of “assault, battery and intentional infliction of emotional distress.”

“Maverick” is also suing the Barclays Center for negligence as he claims they failed “to engage in proper security measures to protect the plaintiff and other patrons.”

McGregor’s attack on the bus also forced Ray Borg off the card as a shard of the glass struck him in the eye. While Chiesa is the first to file a lawsuit, others including Borg and even Rose Namajunas may decide to do the same, as she was left emotionally scarred by the incident and, according to her coach, Trevor Wittman, afraid to leave the house for a time.

McGregor takes on Nurmagomedov next month for the UFC lightweight title at UFC 229.
