Thomas Gifford will remain on the UFC Fight Night 161 card after all.
According to a report from ESPN, the 27-year-old will take on Mike Davis, who is stepping in for Brok Weaver on less than one week’s notice. UFC Fight Night 161 goes down on Oct. 12 from Tampa, Florida and is headlined by a strawweight bout between Joanna Jedrzejczyk and Michelle Waterson.
Gifford fell to Roosevelt Roberts by decision in his Octagon debut at UFC Fight Night 150. Before that, he submitted Trey Ogden on the regional scene to earn his shot in the Las Vegas-based promotion. He is 14-8 with two no contests as pro and has finished 12 of his wins by submission wins and two via knockout.
Mike Davis, meanwhile, is also coming off of his promotional debut at UFC Fight Night 150, where he was submitted by Gilbert Burns on short notice. The Contender Series alum owns a 6-2 professional mark, with all of his triumphs coming by KO or TKO.
