Movsar Evloev Reveals Fitness Regimen Copied From Boxing Legend
Movsar
Evloev practices an insane push-up drill as part of his
training.
Evloev recently revealed a push-up routine he picked up from Russian-Australian boxing standout Kostya Tszyu. Competing between 1992 to 2005, Tszyu was a light welterweight undisputed champion.
Evloev copies Tszyu’s push-up workout, which requires him to do
1,000 push ups within an hour. The
UFC featherweight even pushed it a step further by doing 1,500
push-ups within an hour. Evloev’s only rest within that hour is
jumping rope when he isn’t doing push-ups.
“I do it in exactly one hour,” Evloev told Ushatayka (via Home of Fight). “It’s part of my weekly training. The method comes from Kostya Tszyu — it originally required 1,000 push-ups in one session. But I’ve done it so often, I pushed it to 1,500. The only ‘breaks’ I get are when I’m jumping rope. One hour. 1,500 push-ups. And a ton of time on the rope.”
A title shot has evaded Evloev so far despite nine straight UFC wins. However, the undefeated contender could be on the cusp of a title shot if he gets past his next opponent. Evloev is set to welcome former Bellator MMA star Aaron Pico to the Octagon at UFC Abu Dhabi on July 26 at the Etihad Arena in Yas Island, Abu Dhabi. Evloev’s last four wins came against elite opposition in Dan Ige, Diego Lopes, Arnold Allen and former champ Aljamain Sterling.
