Recent signee Myles Jury will make his first promotional foray against Benson Henderson in the Bellator 227 headliner in Dublin on Sept. 27.
The California-based organization announced the lightweight clash on Monday. Bellator 227 takes place at the 3Arena and will also see Brandon Girtz square off against Paul Redmond in a 155-pound co-main event. The Bellator 227 portion of the card will air via tape delay on Paramount Network and Dazn in the United States.
As part of the dual-broadcast event, the previously announced bout between James Gallagher and Callum Ellenor will serve as the featured matchup for the Bellator “Dublin” European Series card. The three-bout lineup also includes a welterweight tilt between Michael Page and Richard Kiely and a lightweight scrap pitting Ryan Scope against Peter Queally. Bellator “Dublin” will be available live globally via the Bellator Mobile App.
Jury exited the UFC on the heels of back-to-back losses to Chad Mendes and Andre Fili. “Fury” compiled an 8-4 mark in the Octagon, earning notable triumphs over the likes of Diego Sanchez, Takanori Gomi and Michael Johnson.
“I’m happy to continue my MMA journey with Bellator,” Jury said in a release. “I’m excited to return to work against a guy like Benson [Henderson] and immediately make an impact in Bellator’s lightweight division. I’m only 30 years old and still believe that my best years are ahead of me.”
Henderson, meanwhile, is currently on a three-bout winning streak after besting Roger Huerta, Saad Awad and Adam Piccolotti in succession. The former UFC lightweight king is 4-3 since signing with Bellator MMA.
