Hawaiian station KHON-2 was first to report Dung’s Bellator deal. The 19-year-old Hawaii Elite MMA representative defeated Kona Oliveira by technical knockout 2:05 into the third round of their lightweight bout at Bellator 213 in Honolulu on Saturday night.
“To be honest, everything’s happening so quick – faster than I thought it would,” Dung told KHON-2. “I know a lot of fighters that night deserved contracts. For them to pick me, it really says a lot. I believe in myself 100 percent. To have Bellator, [president] Scott Coker, [matchmaker] Rich Chou believe in me, it’s awesome.”
Dung made his professional debut on Aug. 3, when he choked out Kris Berberich in the opening stanza at a regional event in Hawaii.
