Nate Diaz is set to return to the Octagon at UFC 241 to take on Anthony Pettis. The bout is set to be the co-main event and will be contested at welterweight.
A fan favorite, Diaz (34) last fought at UFC 202, where he lost by decision to Conor McGregor. The Stockton, California, native was set to fight Dustin Poirier at UFC 230, but the now-interim champion withdrew due to injury.
Pettis, meanwhile, is coming off a very impressive knockout of Stephen Thompson at UFC Nashville. It was his welterweight Octagon debut and put the former lightweight champion on Sherdog’s bubble list in the 170-pound divisional rankings.
However, after the win over “Wonderboy,” Pettis said he wanted to return to the lightweight division to take on Justin Gaethje or anyone in the Top 5. But, it appears a meeting with Diaz changed his plans.
UFC 241 goes down on Aug. 17 from the Honda Center in Anaheim, California, and is headlined by the heavyweight title fight rematch between Daniel Cormier and Stipe Miocic.
